How It Works
When you sign up to record with us, we take care of everything! Most studios charge you for the studio time, then they charge you again for an engineer and again for a producer and then yet again for any musicians or background singers and tons of other hidden fees. At Honey Bee, you will pay a flat fee, whether hourly or for the entire project, and you will get the studio time, producer/engineer, and all the costs of additional personnel will be included in the rate you are quoted, so there are never any surprises.

So How Does It Work?
PRE-PRODUCTION
This phase can include writing (music and/or lyrics), arranging, setting up the session file in Pro Tools (with click track if applicable), creating a chord chart or score, and often tracking “scratch" vocals or even temporary instrumental tracks as guides. Depending on genre, this would also be when drum loops or “beats” are created. Pre-production could be thought of as the “skeleton.”
PRODUCTION
This is when the meat goes on the bone, so to speak. All the instrumental tracks are recorded, either at one time (like a live band) or as a series of overdubs, one on top of the other. Specific sounds and choices are meticulously hashed out during this phase, a ton of editing, and lastly all the permanent lead and background vocals are added. At this point all the main ingredients are present.
POST-PRODUCTION
Finally the finishing touches! Like a chef creating an elegant entree, we too have to “mix” all the delicious ingredients into a singular experience for the listener. The mixing process can be tedious and time-intensive, as the goal is to create a stereo track that has sonic dimension, wherein all the instruments and vocals can be clearly heard and each their own space in which to “live.” We mix demos in-house, but we often mix and master our higher-budget projects in downtown Atlanta. No matter what, we are there every step of the way!
